Costa Blanca Cycling Experience powered by FIETS TRAVEL 2023

FIETS TRAVEL is organizing its second Costa Blanca Cycling Experience from the southern Spanish coast Costa Blanca. This coast is enormously popular in the pro peloton because of its mild Mediterranean climate, good roads and very varied landscape. Experience for yourself what it is like to live there like a real pro.

Denia is a Spanish municipality, fishing town and seaside resort on the Costa Blanca. Denia is located in the northern coastal part of the province of Alicante. Its geographical environment is notable for a hilly coastline. Its cliffs, coves and wide beaches of fine sand are innumerable. Inland, fruit trees dominate the landscape. The area is favored by pro teams for good reason because the area is breathtakingly beautiful.

During the trip you will stay at the Denia, Marriott La Sella Golf & Bike Resort. The hotel is truly fully equipped and that is to be expected from this 4-star plus location. In addition to a good gym, pool and very nice spa, the hotel also has a specially equipped bike department. Bikes can be safely stored, repair and cleaning resources available.

Program Tuesday, March 21 to Saturday, March 25, 2023

Day 1 - March 21
Arrival in Denia in the early morning or afternoon hours.
We will start with a tour of the hotel and everyone can get settled.
Once settled you are invited to join us on a leisurely 35km ride around Denia to get into it!
Return to the hotel and take time for an afternoon dip in the pool. Or a visit to the spa
Dinner will be served at 8pm at the hotel.

Distance: 35km.
Elevation: 500hm.

Day 2 - March 22
After a restful night's sleep, breakfast and coffee will be served at the hotel at 8 a.m. in the morning.
We will gather in the courtyard at 09.30h to roll out for today's full day ride.
The ride will tackle the famous Coll de Rates today. This climb is the most popular climb for all riders in this region.
The route will go through Altea, Lliber with a coffee stop at the Velosol Cycling Cage. After this we will ride up the Coll de Rates, continue our way through Tarbena and the waterfalls of the Fonts de l'Algar and finally via Cami Coves to Denia.
We return to the hotel tired but satisfied.

Distance: 89km.
Altitude: 1610hm.

Day 3 - March 23
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. (hopefully with not too sore legs after yesterday!).
We leave at 09.30h for a nice round.
The tour goes through the north to Xabia with beautiful views of the sea and mountains. We continue via the Montgo climb to Pego-Sagra and Orba, coffee stop again at the Velosol Cycling Cafe. Via Lliber we ride back to Denia.
Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Distance: 100km.
Altitude: 1280hm.

Day 4 - March 24
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.
We will gather in the courtyard at 09.30h to leave for a famous climb to do today; a very tough La Cumbre del Sol where Tom Dumoulin took his famous Vuelta stage win in 2015.
After this feisty sharpshooter, we will have an extensive lunch in Benissa on the way and then leisurely drive back to Denia.
Tired but satisfied, we return to the hotel for a swim and at 8 p.m. we sit down for a delicious dinner.

Altitude: 1600hm

Day 5 - March 25
Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. for the early flight. The shuttle to the airport will take you back to Alicante.

For those who have an evening flight, there is another nice round plotted in the morning to finish.

We gather in the courtyard at 8:30am to leave for the last ride of 60km around Denia. We ride the round of Moraira from Denia.
Around 13.00h we return to the house for last but not least well-deserved lunch at the hotel.

All good things come to an end. So after dinner we will help you pack up your bikes and wish you beautiful farewells with many new lifelong memories of FIETSTRAVEL's Costa Brava Cycling Experience!

Rob van de Brand

Rob is a current Worldtour mechanic with EF Education and Lotto-Soudal, among others. Rob is still in the middle of professional cycling and is a real asset to our team. Besides his enormous technical knowledge and expertise, Rob also brings great stories from the race.
Rob is taking on an assistant who will help him with the perfect maintenance of our bikes.

Veerle Goossens

This enthusiast from Brabant has been spending more than half her life on a bike. Runs her own cyclocross team combined with freelance marketing activities. Absolutely cannot sit still and therefore forces herself to meditate. She loves to share, especially her food. Prefers breakfast with oatmeal and can spend hours looking for the best restaurant. Tries to tame her perfectionism, although that often works out far too well for her companions. Gets happy from meeting new people and sharing adventures on bikes.

We recommend the Costa Blanca Cycling Experience by FIETS TRAVEL for riders of intermediate or higher level (level 3-5), or those with at least some experience riding in the mountains.
At no point will a rider be left alone, as our support car and guide will always be along for the ride.
