Cycle Coffee Society Calpe Cycling by Puck Moonen 2023

Ridemeister Puck Moonen is organizing her first Cycle Coffee Society Calpe Cycling Experience from the southern Spanish coastal town of Calpe. This place is hugely popular in the pro peloton because of its mild Mediterranean climate, good roads and very varied landscape. Experience for yourself what it's like to live like a real pro there.

Choice of 2 packages:

Our accommodation for this trip is unique;

The Cycle Coffee Society Calpe House is a luxury, bespoke cycling accommodation, located near the Spanish town of Calpe. Specially designed to meet the 'outside category' quality requirements of professional athletes as well as you; our guests. Experience living like a pro here with Ridemeister Puck Moonen.

For a select few we are offering a cycling week at our Calpe villa. The days will be filled with beautiful tours. The delicious food will be prepared by the best local restaurants and of course there is still the great coffee.

You will be treated like a professional cyclist in every way; with a personal coach Puck Moonen, bicycle guidance with car, mechanical support and we offer another massage and sports nutrition package.

Sample program Wednesday through Sunday (custom dates possible)

Day 1 -
Welcome to the CCS villa in the morning.
We start with a tour and coffee from Il Magistrale.
Once you are settled you are invited to join us on a leisurely 60m drive around Calpe to get into it!
Return to the house and take time for an afternoon dip in our pool.
Welcome dinner will be served at 8pm at one of Puck's local favorite restaurants.

Distance: 60km / 35km
Altitude: 500hm / 250hm

Day 2.
After a relaxing night's sleep, breakfast and coffee will be served at 8 a.m. in the morning.
We will gather in the courtyard at 09.30h to roll out for today's full day ride.
The ride will tackle the famous Coll de Rates today. This climb is the most popular climb for all riders in this region.
The route will go through Altea, Lliber with a coffee stop at the Velosol Cycling Cage. After this we will ride up the Coll de Rates, continue our way via Tarbena and the waterfalls of the Fonts de l'Algar and finally via Cami Coves to Calp.
We return tired but satisfied to the CCS villa for a swim. We offer a massage for those who think they need it.
In the evening you are invited to a 3-course dinner at one of Puck's local favorite restaurants.

Elevation: 1610hm / 1100hm

Day 3 -
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. (hopefully with not too sore legs after yesterday!).
We leave at 09.30h for a nice round.
The tour goes through the north to Xabia with beautiful views of the sea and mountains. We continue via the Montgo climb to Pego-Sagra and Orba, coffee stop again at the Velosol Cycling Cafe. Via Lliber we ride back to Calp.
Return to the house for relaxation and a three-course dinner at one of Puck's local favorite restaurants.

Distance: 100km / 60km
Altitude: 1280hm / 950hm

Day 4 -.
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.

We will gather in the courtyard at 9:30 a.m. to leave for a longer ride today, longer in terms of distance but not so much harder because we will ride much along the coastline to the north via Pego-Sagra and Denia. Again we climb the Coll de Rates, continue through Tarbena to the last climb of the day on the Montgo.
We return tired but satisfied to the CCS villa for a swim and at 8 p.m. we'll join you for delicious 3-course dinner at one of Puck's local favorite restaurants.

Distance: 120km / 75km
Altitude: 1780hm / 1200hm

Day 5 -
Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m.

We gather in the courtyard at 8:30 a.m. to leave for a famous climb to do today; a very tough La Cumbre del Sol where Tom Dumoulin took his famous Vuelta stage win in 2015.
After this feisty showdown, we will have an extensive lunch in Benissa on the way and then drive quietly back to Calp.
Upon our return, we can freshen up and help you pack your bikes and suitcases so we have plenty of time for departure later in the evening.
In the afternoon the chef will provide a paella before departure to the airport.

Altitude: 800hm

We leave on time with the transfer to Alicante Airport where in the evening is the return flight to the Netherlands.

Our guiding team for this trip:

Puck Moonen

Puck started cycling at the age of 17 and traded a career as a doctor for a chance to become a professional cyclist. Although she does not currently ride for a major team, she has not given up on her ambitions.

After a bad crash and broken knee in 2018, she suffered long-term injuries and eventually learned that she needed a different environment to get her back on track. Her experience on a professional women's team opened her eyes and led her to work her own way back to the top while exploring how other disciplines in cycling make you a better and happier rider.

She is passionate about running her own business, about cars and motorcycles, photography and art among many other things. After placing 3rd at a World Cup Gravel last year, she has qualified for her first World Championship, so her new approach is definitely starting to pay off.

Puck is happy to lead you around her beloved training roads in and around the Calpe area on her road bike. Of course, she can also plan a gravel or mountain bike ride on request (upon request).
With Puck, you're sure to have a laugh on this trip and enjoy some great coffee!

Veerle Goossens

This enthusiast from Brabant has been spending more than half her life on a bike. She runs her own cyclocross team in combination with freelance marketing activities. She can't sit still at all and therefore obliges herself to meditate. She loves to share, especially her food. Prefers to have breakfast with oatmeal and can spend hours looking for the best restaurant. Tries to tame her perfectionism, although that often works out pretty darn well for her companions. Gets happy meeting new people and sharing adventures on a bike.

Your group will have a dedicated professional mechanic on hand to adjust your bikes during your stay, so every mile and gear will go smoothly.

Rob van de Brand

Rob is a current Worldtour mechanic with EF Education and Lotto-Soudal, among others. Rob is still in the middle of professional cycling and is a real asset for our team to bring to Tuscany. Besides his enormous technical knowledge and expertise, Rob also brings along great stories from the race.

All food and drinks are included with breakfast, lunch and each evening we go to the nicest and best spots to eat in the region. We know the value of good and tasty food and a good glass of wine or beer to go with it!

We recommend the Cycle Coffee Society Calpe Cycling Experience by Puck Moonen for intermediate or higher level riders (level 3-5), or those with at least some mountain riding experience.
At no point will a rider be left alone, as our support car and guide will always be along for the ride.
