Giro d'Italia Special Lucca 2023

Enjoy a true Tuscan experience in beautiful Lucca! With the beautiful location of this historic fortified city, you don't have to travel far for a special experience.

A unique day is included during this vacation: the passage of the 10th stage in the Giro d'Italia 2023 through Lucca. We will watch this one live.

You are a guest at a beautiful villa. Hidden among the trees against a beautiful hill is the Lucca Cycling Holidays villa. Enjoy the enormous warm hospitality of Rein and Yvonne. As two experienced cyclists, they are completely at home in enjoying cycling. Yvonne is also a professional masseuse and can still be booked if desired.
The bike rides during this vacation are personally accompanied by guides with local knowledge. The terrain is hilly but there are also some serious mountains such as the famous Monte Serra a short distance from the villa.

Lucca centro storico is nearby and by car or bike you can get there in just 15 minutes. There are of course many bars, stores and restaurants. Obviously it is worth walking or cycling all the way around the city wall of over 4 kilometers but the churches and climbing the towers (such as the famous Torre Guinigi with its trees) and the many other old buildings are worth a visit.

Also the famous beaches of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are not far away. The Cinque Terre and places like Florence and Pisa are easy to drive and ideal for a day trip .Other nice places are Pietrasanta, Pistoia and Siena, 100 minutes away.
Hiking is very good in the nearby mountains of Monte Pisano, in the Alpi Apuane and the Apennines, but the region is really a mecca for cycling. The roads are generally fine . The many routes are solo , in groups or guided a real Tuscan Experience . The famous Monte Serra is next door !

After a hearty breakfast, we will prepare for a wonderful day of cycling that includes a visit to stage 10 of the 2023 Giro d'Italia. This one comes in beautiful Tuscany today.
Our personal guide will take you to some beautiful places to make a nice loop after the pass through

After breakfast, we take another look at the start of stage 11 and then head back to the airport.

Extend your stay on the basis of bed & breakfast; stay until May 20 to enjoy Lucca and its surroundings a little longer on the basis of an additional payment of €200,- p.p. based on double occupancy or €400,- based on a single room.

During our bike rides a personal guide or support car will be present. We bring spare materials, provide sports drinks, water and food along the way. At fixed locations during the bike tours we will make a stopover with care. A permanent tour guide is always present on these tours.

The sporting aspect is suitable for anyone who has an average or good physical condition. We take into account the differences between us, this is also normal in the mountains. The most important thing is that we will all have a great week of cycling. The accommodation and facilities are top, the surroundings are great!

Your hosts in Lucca are Rien and Yvonne Koetsier. Both have been active in cycling for years.
Yvonne as soigneur/masseur for various World Tour teams (both men and women) and Rien as organizational talent ensures that everything runs smoothly.
Rien has been active for years behind the scenes but on the finish line in Criterium du Dauphine and the Tour de France both for men and women.
This sporty and caring couple will ensure that you will lack nothing so we hope to see you in Lucca.

Adrien Niyonshuti is a Rwandan road cyclist and mountain biker who rode for Team Dimension Data in 2017. He became Rwandan road champion twice. Niyonshuti competed on behalf of Rwanda at the London Olympics in cross-country in 2012. He also founded his own cycling academy and lives near Lucca. Adrien is a very special and amicable man to have on a trip with. His vast area knowledge, knowledge of cycling and life stories are worthy of note. Be surprised by the most friendly guide in Rwanda. By the way, Adrien speaks several languages fluently.
