10 DAY LUXURY GRAVEL ADVENTURE WEST UGANDA
With its beautiful nature and wildlife, the trip through Western Uganda will be one of the most unique gravel bike trips you ever make.
We cycle past breathtakingly beautiful lakes, through the jungle where the mountain gorillas reside and also right through one of Uganda's most beautiful national parks where you can see lions, buffalo, elephants and many more animals.
Experience the local culture and discover how Ugandans really live in the authentic villages we drive through. Slalom between the magical crater lakes with in the background the magnificent view of Africa's highest mountain range: the Rwenzori's. Too much to mention.
But beware, you will have to work for it. The trip goes from Fort Portal to Lake Bunyonyi and then there is a nice ride in Lake Mbuto. That's about 400 kilometers with a lot of climbing. The distances are very doable if you are fit and have some cycling experience. If you have less experience or want to use an e-gravel bike it is possible.

DAY 03 | SLALOM BETWEEN THE CRATER LAKES
A hefty trek through Uganda's center of crater lakes. The beautiful surroundings will steal your heart. Along the way we will stop for a quick lunch. Through a nice, fairly flat, route with some single tracks we will eventually arrive at Kasese. From there we ride on asphalt and pass the equator, before arriving at the gateway to the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here we dive into the park by car. There are many hippos, buffaloes and gazelles to spot. We spend the night in a beautiful lodge in the park with the sounds of hyenas and hippos in the background. [Breakfast, lunch and dinner included] Severity: **** Distance: 95km Technique: *** Altimeters: +472 / -937 m

DAY 04 | ACROSS THE SAFARI PARK
We start with a morning stunner: a fantastic boat safari on Kazinga Channel! With cycling clothes and bike, we jump on the boat for a 1.5 hour morning boat safari. We will be dropped off on the other side of the water, from where a beautiful ride right through the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park will begin. The park is home to 95 species of mammals and over 500 birds. So there is a very good chance that our paths will cross with those of elephants, water buffalo, kobs, bucks and even felines. The follow car will therefore drive right behind us. The route is along a wide straight dirt road without many hills. The last part we dive a little deeper into the Ishasha sector of the park. An official park ranger will guide us to a beautiful lodge situated next to a river. The route is not technically difficult but the distance and heat can make it challenging. [breakfast, lunch and dinner are included] Severity: *** Distance: 80km Technique: ** Altimeters: +398 / -417 m

Today a challenging route to the border of Bwindi Impenetrable Park. Here lies Buhoma, Uganda's central spot for visiting the rare mountain gorilla. We climb from 950 meters to 1400 meters, tapping 1450 meters along the way. Beautiful route where you see both the environment and the climate change. We cross some tea plantations, before approaching the tropical rainforest. The high altitude is ideal for the growth of this crop. DAY 06 | MONKEY TRAIL
Today will be a day you won't forget for the rest of your life. Visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for a real encounter in the wild with the rare mountain gorillas. In small groups you will walk into the forest together with a trained ranger to find one of the gorilla families. The rangers know the animals, know where they are and try to visit the family as quickly and effortlessly as possible. However, they are still wild animals and the animals may not be as easy to reach. The trek through the dense forest, over steep slopes and muddy paths can sometimes take up to 4 hours. When the gorillas are found, you may only stay there for a maximum of 1 hour. This is to ensure that the influence of humans remains as limited as possible. You leave with lunch in your backpack. Upon return from the hike, we jump in the car for a 2-hour transfer to Ruhija. [breakfast, lunch and dinner included] Accommodation:

DAY 07 | THE LAKE OF THE 1000 BIRDS

If we are very, very, very lucky, we might come face to face with the famous mountain gorilla as we drive through his natural habitat. Lunch will be at Africa's eye-popping and deepest lake: Lake Bunyonyi. The name means, "place of the little birds", a true paradise for the birdwatcher. After the simple lunch we will drive along the lake, where we will have to face some steep climbs. We will spend the night in a hotel with a beautiful view of the lake.
